Rhodes Road Trip: Inland and Mountains from Monolithos to Ialyssós

Earlier during the day I explored the west coast of Rhodes from Ialyssós to Fourni Beach. It was a fantastic road trip: quiet beaches, stunning lush green nature, archeological sites, historical castles and massive caves, cliffs and rock formations along the rugged shoreline. To get back to my homebase in Ialyssós I decided to take the mountain road to see what the inland and mountain regions Continue reading

Rhodes Road Trip: West Coast from Ialyssós to Fourni Beach

Rhodes is a large and versatile island with plenty to see and do. I had already explored medieval Rhodes old town together with the more modern part of Rhodes town as well as the historical town of Ialyssós and Filerimos Hill. However, there is much more to Rhodes than just these places so I rented a car for a couple of days to discover the island further. My plan for day 1 with the rental car was to explore the west coast from Ialyssós all the way to down to Fourni Beach and return in the afternoon via Continue reading

Snowy Postcards from White Winter Wonderland of Finland

Winter, snow and freezing cold temperatures – we have it all in Finland! But to be honest, this winter has been a kind of strange when it comes to weather. At least here in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Temperatures continually fluctuate above and below zero meaning that it is either too “warm” with the snow melting or it is way too freezing cold with arctic winds.Currently we do have a thin white covering of snow in Helsinki but it seems to come and go. Lots of grey misty winter days with rain. But luckily also some pretty glorious sunny days when it totally feels like a true white winter wonderland! Continue reading
