Ticket to Adventures

Travel blog from around the world, near and far.

About

Hello and welcome to my travel blog Ticket to Adventures! My name is Piia, I am the owner and author of this blog.

I am a traveller, adventurer and dreamer who loves new cultures, foreign languages, inspiring people, healthy food, exotic drinks. And exciting experiences above all.

I am also a city girl, nature lover, sports enthusiast and a lot more. I have a passion for storytelling, photographing and sharing intriguing experiences.

By profession I am a marketing extraordinaire with 3 academic degrees (MBA, MA, BA).

Originally I am from Finland (currently based in Helsinki) and over the years I have also had the opportunity to live in Australia, the UK and Spain. Read my story How it All Started.

With this blog I wish to share my travels and adventures around the world, near and far. I also wish to offer you adventurous, practical and dreamy travel advice and inspiration to explore the world and to gain new experiences. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Travelling my style

I travel as much and as often as I possibly can. Both in Finland and abroad. I love to travel because it makes me feel free and alive. Travelling is my passion, my hobby, my inspiration.

I love summer, beach, sun, sand and sea. I also love winter and snow. I love vibrant cities with cultural activities. I love culinary experiences. I love nature, fresh air, flora and fauna. I love outdoor activities and anything to do with sports. As a result, these aspects are always present on my travels, one way or another.

I do not do package holidays. In turn, I want to plan and book my travels by myself as the planning process itself is an integral part of my total travel experience. I require quality up to certain standards. I do not need the most expensive luxury, but I do not want the cheapest budget travel either.

I try my best to avoid tourist traps. I want to travel off the beaten track and find my own paths. I want to get to know local people, local habits and local way of living. When in Rome do as the Romans do.

  1. Hi Piia. Just wanted to say that I’ve enjoyed reading your blogs about Koh Mak and Koh Chang ( where i live ). Always good to read about visitors experiences here. Keep up the good work. 🙂

  2. I’ve finally got round to reading this and I couldn’t agree more! All the planning and preparation for a holiday add to the fun and sense of adventure. I don’t do package holidays either – who wants to be away in a foreign country with coach loads of people from your own country! I’m not a backpacker/ hostel stayer either, preferring somewhere of a good comfortable standard but not the most expensive in town – I prefer to save my pennies for future trips!! Continue enjoying happy travels!

    • Thank you for reading Marion. Travelling more and spending less is definitely my style. What I would need more is holidays, I mean time off from work. Some day I hope to be able to travel for a longer period of time, at least 6 months or why not even a couple of years.
